Tall Rare American Civil War Spinet Desk, period 1850 - 1870. Sometimes called a 'piano desk' given its resemblance to that instrument. Usually placed free standing in a room behind a sofa or against a wall. Classic civil war leg and foot construction. The underside of the desk contains a secret compartment. The stretcher between the legs attaches to the bottom of the desk for exceptional strength. Top closes to hide several drawers on inside which holds all of your necessary escritoire related items. A desk of this design is usually found in the south east cost of the country. Originally constructed of cherry. The
complete furniture kit includes pre-cut, unfinished hardwood component parts, hardware and
easy to follow step-by-step assembly instructions. Combine with a matching end table kit, desk or hall
